French Rabbit Wine – Sustainability Study:
In a small team of 3 students, we investigated French Rabbit Wine, a winery describing themselves as sustainable, and using TetraPak packaging instead of traditional glass bottles. We had a number of questions, including whether a wine could be considered sustainable if it was shipped across an ocean, if the TetraPak was a monstrous hybrid, or could it be recycled, and do the emissions saved by shipping in TetraPak outweigh the lack of recycling options.
We used the Natural Capitalism framework to guide our analysis and shape our recommendations. Ultimately we concluded that while there was room for improvement, French Rabbit Wines were more sustainable than we thought, and that TetraPak is in fact recyclable.
